Hey you, good morning ☀️ (or good whatever-time-you’re-reading-this!)
Can I tell you a little secret?

I wasn’t always a morning person. Nope. My mornings used to look like this: wake up late, grab the phone, scroll endlessly, rush through brushing, skip breakfast, and feel like I was running behind even before the day officially began. 😣 But something shifted when baby R came along, and I started running my blog more seriously while nurturing dreams of my wellness brand. I realized…
How I start my morning completely affects how I live my day.
So, I experimented, stumbled, and slowly built a morning routine that feels like a warm hug from the universe. ✨ Let me share what works for me—maybe a piece of it will fit into your mornings too.
Why Morning Routines Matter (Even If You’re Not a “5AM Club” Type)
Morning routines are essential for several reasons:
They help you anchor your mind before the world rushes in.
They give you something to look forward to (yes, even before coffee ☕).
They reduce decision fatigue—because the flow is already set.
They help you show up as your calmest, clearest, kindest self.
My Morning Routine (As a Mama, Blogger, and with my 9-5 work)
1. Wake-Up + Hydration (5:00 AM-ish)
I keep a bottle of water by my bed. I drink it before I check my phone—non-negotiable. Some mornings, I add a squeeze of lemon or a soaked seed mix. Pro tip: Hydration before caffeine = glow from within, darling 💧✨
2. 5 Minutes of Quiet Gratitude
I sit on the edge of the bed or by the window and say thank you. Not a fancy journal. Just a deep breath and gratitude for three things.
3. Light Movement (10–15 Minutes)
I stretch, do a little yoga, or just walk around my home barefoot. On good days, I dance to Tamil songs from the '90s. 💃
4. Mindful Skincare
I do a quick skincare routine while listening to my current book on Audible. It’s my daily dose of glam and grounding.
5. Strength Training and Jogging
Before Baby R wakes up, I try to do my workout and lift weights depending on the muscle groups I'm training for the day. After sending Baby R to school, I go for a run.
6. No-Phone Mornings
I try to stay off my phone until 9:30 AM. Some days I fail. Some days I win. But on days I stick to it? I feel lighter, less rushed, and more present.
What Helped Me Stick to It?
Start small. I didn’t wake up at 5 AM on Day 1. It took time. Make it joyful. A morning routine isn’t punishment—it’s a gift. Keep it flexible. Some days are chaotic. That’s okay. Come back the next morning.
Finding Your Perfect Morning Routine
Creating a morning routine that works for you is a journey. It’s all about discovering what makes you feel good. Here are some tips to help you along the way:
Experiment with Different Activities
Try out various activities to see what resonates with you. Maybe you love journaling, or perhaps meditation is your jam. The key is to find what brings you joy and peace.
Set Realistic Goals
Don’t aim for perfection. Start with small, achievable goals. If you want to wake up earlier, try setting your alarm just 10 minutes earlier than usual. Gradually adjust as you get comfortable.
Listen to Your Body
Your body knows best. If you’re feeling tired, it’s okay to skip a workout or sleep in a bit. The goal is to create a routine that nurtures you, not one that adds stress.
Celebrate Your Wins
Every small victory counts! Did you wake up on time? Did you complete your morning routine? Celebrate those moments. They build momentum and encourage you to keep going.
The Benefits of a Morning Routine
Having a morning routine can transform your day. Here’s how:
Increased Productivity
Starting your day with intention sets a positive tone. You’ll find yourself more focused and productive throughout the day.
Improved Mental Health
Taking time for yourself in the morning can reduce anxiety and stress. It’s a moment to breathe and gather your thoughts before diving into the day.
Better Physical Health
Incorporating movement and hydration into your morning routine can boost your overall health. You’ll feel more energized and ready to tackle whatever comes your way.
Enhanced Creativity
A calm morning can spark creativity. Whether you’re a writer, artist, or simply someone who enjoys thinking outside the box, a peaceful start can lead to brilliant ideas.
