Overnight oats are healthy make-ahead breakfast that can be prepped the night before or on a meal prep day as the same stays good in refrigerator for 3-4 days. I always prep the night before to avoid skipping breakfast in busy morning and to curb the easy way- Take out!
I'm sharing my best tips and favorite recipes. These are legitimately delicious, easy to make and enticing enough to get me out of bed.
Overnight oats are typically served chilled straight out of refrigerator, but you can heat up in the microwave if hot is what you crave.
How to make overnight oats
I make my overnight oats with old-fashioned rolled oats. I add chia seeds for pudding like texture, more fibre and for omega-3's, and a spoonful of nut butter to give them smooth silk like texture.

This is what you will need to make overnight oats
Oats: You can't make overnight oats without oats! Overnight oats are typically made with traditional rolled oats but any toasted oats or quick-cooking oats will also do. But the instant oats will be mushy as it doesn't hold well.
Chia Seeds: This is optional but I always use them in my batch, they absorb moisture and makes overnight oats creamy. Chia seeds have omega-3's and a ton of fiber just like oats.
Nut Butter: Almond butter or peanut butter makes these oats extra creamy and contain healthy fat. They give oats savory and nutty flavor.
Milk of Choice: You can use your favorite milk here (almond milk, coconut milk, cashew milk or cow's milk) You could use water instead but the final product won't be creamy.
The amount of liquid is key to the consistency - I like my overnight oats concentrated thick and creamy while my hubby likes it runny.
Sweetener: Add a drizzle of sweetener of your choice. I use honey to sweeten things up and to make it more enticing.
Fruit: Now that we have formed the base of oats, I like to add fruit.
